U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson, who sided with the players and lifted the lockout this week, gave players a Wednesday morning deadline to tell her why she shouldn’t grant the NFL’s request to put her order on hold. If Nelson denies the league’s expedited motion for a stay, the owners will ask
the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis for the same thing. They’re also asking the appeals court, viewed as a more friendly venue to the league than the federal courts in Minnesota, to overturn Nelson’s decision.

NFL- The players need to take advantage of all the benefits that may result – even if just temporarily – from the lifted lockout. Seven weeks into the NFL lockout, players have an early triumph over the owners in court. U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson ordered an immediate end to the lockout Monday, siding with the players in their bitter fight . So much for a draft boycott. A record 25 prospects will be in attendance for Thursday's first night of the NFL draft on Thursday at Radio City Music Hall in New York, the league announced Monday. The draft will begin at 8 p.m. ET. The second and third rounds will take place Friday night beginning at 6 p.m. Rounds 4 through 7 are scheduled for Saturday, starting
at noon ET. All seven rounds will be televised on ESPN's family of networks.
