Scores and Sports Info for 02/03/2010

NFL - Freeney hopes to play. Colts could make Manning highest-paid QB. Manning biggest star by far on Media Day. Brock Solid-There's no replacing All-Pro Dwight Freeney. But Colts veteran Raheem Brock is confident he can carry the load. Which Jeremy Shockey will we get? The pill who's bitter about the past? Or the nice guy who's determined for Super Bowl glory? Either way, the Saints are better with Shockey on the field. By rule Kyle Eckel should be serving in the Navy. After essentially being fired, he is instead in his second Super Bowl. The Saints fullback got his wish, to be a football player, not a soldier.

NBA - LeBron James tied a career high with 15 assists as the Cavaliers routed the Grizzlies for their ninth consecutive victory. Durant's 33 lift Thunder over Hawks. Carter lifts Magic past Bucks. Kaman returns, leads Clips past Bulls. One Night, Two Losses-The Nets dropped to 4-43 and lost asst. coach Del Harris at the same time as he resigned. Dave Del Grande's Power Rankings, DDG's rules. First, he ditches the East-West All-Star format, then lofts up trade possibilities that would affect the playoffs -- and July's free-agent spending spree.

MLB - Texas, Seattle and Oakland all got better. The Angels, though still the AL West favorites, took a step backward. This is as intriguing as the division has ever been. 'Finances will not hold us back'-The Rangers were so financially handcuffed last year that one employee said it was just like working for the Expos when major league baseball owned the team. Factoring in the player and the park he'll call home in 2010, Cliff Lee pitching in Safeco Field should be the best fit among players who changed teams. Bryce Harper left high school two years early to be eligible for this June's draft, where he is expected to go No. 1. The miserly Marlins will be monitored to ensure they spend enough on players to complement ace Josh Johnson.

GOLF - Northern Trust Open- Padraig Harrington is among the elite players teeing it up this week at historic Riviera Country Club. Using a loophole in the
new groove rules, several players, including John Daly and Phil Mickelson, have made the controversial decision to play Ping Eye2 wedges in recent PGA Tour events.

NASCAR - Tony Stewart nearly won a title in his first season as an owner/driver, yet he wasn't as prepared then as he is now. Comic Relief-Michael Waltrip is not your typical Cup team owner. He tweets. He speaks his mind. And he's not afraid to make a fool of himself ... often. NASCAR needs more owners like Waltrip.

HORSE RACING - Kicked out- Pennsylvania racing authorities are ousting top horse owner Michael Gill from Penn National Race Course (left) over the
condition of his animals.
