NFL - The Cardinals and Steelers' chances of returning to the Super Bowl rest on their emerging defenses. Will Brett Favre's rematch vs. the Pack meet expectations? CFL - The West's last-place Edmonton Eskimos kept playoff hopes alive by blasting the Toronto Argonauts 36-10. Despite having the best offensive record, the Als' defensive unit has taken a
big hit. Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Romby Bryant is named CFL offensive player of week. Even with injury concerns, B.C. Lions coach Wally Buono is keeping playoff hopes alive.

gets Chicago by Habs. Ducks end 4-game slide, rip Canucks 7-2. Connolly, Miller keep Sabres
surging. Streit's OT goal lifts Isles, cools Caps. Frans Nielsen and Sean Bergenheim celebrate
an Islanders' victory that snapped the hosting Caps' winning streak.

GOLF - Charles Schwab Cup. John Cook fired a 62 on Friday to seize a three-shot lead after two
rounds. Fisher rallies to tie Cabrera at World Match Play Championship. Poulter in 3-way tie at
Singapore Open. Viking Classic in danger-The first round in Mississippi will not begin until
Sunday – if it takes place at all. Heavy rain this week has left standing water and tracts of
mud all over the course.

NASCAR - Mark Martin figures luck will be on his side this time around at Talladega. Who Will
Win? Tony Stewart: Choosing a Talladega winner is no easy chore. You need a comfortable car and a strong engine. You need the driver most capable of anticipating momentum shifts between lanes of traffic; a driver with the knowledge of when to be patient and when to be aggressive. It helps at Talladega to have a driver who has previously won at NASCAR's largest race track. Tony Stewart is that driver.

SOCCER - MLS - David Beckham has once again proved his critics wrong in keying the Galaxy's
run to the postseason. For the seventh time in eight years, the Fire and Revs face off in the
Eastern Conference playoffs. The Crew face an RSL side that doesn't lose often at home and is
poised to spring a first-round upset.

TENNIS - Venus Williams advanced to the semifinals of the WTA Championships with help from Svetlana Kuznetsova, who beat Elena Dementieva in a round-robin match. Venus faces Jankovic in semis. Unbeaten Serena to oppose Wozniacki.

HORSE RACING - Hermione’s Magic, Gomez win feature at Santa Anita. Cash’n in Dixie wins
Aqueduct feature. Trainer Jeff Mullins barred from NY tracks for drug violation.
