Scores and Sports Info for 03/22/2010

NCAA HOOP's - MARCH MADNESS - In the push to the Sweet 16, MSU (above) beat the buzzer, Cornell pulled a stunner and Duke showed it's a force. Kentucky and
Syracuse have been dominating, but other than that the NCAA tournament has been predictably unpredictable. Spartans' Lucious beats Terps at buzzer.
Johnson's 31 and 14 power Syracuse. No. 12 seed Cornell routs Wisconsin. MSU's Lucas likely has torn Achilles. Kramer's drive late in OT lifts Purdue. Crawford's 27 help Xavier hold off Pitt. Duke cruises by Cal, into regional semis. Two teams are in the Sweet 16 for the third straight year. After gaining its revenge against Pitt, Xavier is one of them. Cornell isn't ready to take off its Cinderella slipper. The Big Red shoot 61 percent from the field and top No. 4 seed Wisconsin 87-69. Cornell puts on a clinic on how to dominate in all facets of a game.

The Rockets' Jordan Hill (27) and Shane Battier (31) were all over the Knicks' Al Harrington in the comeback win. Been There, Done That-The Lakers are getting ready for the playoffs with Andrew Bynum on the sidelines ... again?

Preds score 2 late, rally past Blues 3-2.

MLB - Twins fans' love affair with St. Paul, Minn. native Joe Mauer will remain unchanged for the rest of the decade, as the reigning AL MVP agreed to an
eight-year, $184 million extension. Nathan to miss season with elbow injury. Selig meets with A's about new stadium.

NFL - Armed with Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson, Houston can pass it with anyone. But finding more skill to stop opponents' passing games is what this team
needs to finally make the playoffs. Overtime key issue at owners meetings. While Rich McKay's competition committee has a solution for overtime in the playoffs, the regular-season format is still flawed. The Seahawks waded through a cluster of unknown QBs -- both NFL backups and untested rookies -- before going all out to land Matt Hasselbeck's possible successor, Charlie Whitehurst. NFL moves umpires for safety's sake. UFL pursuing NFL as league investor?

NCAA FOOTBALL - Auburn made progress and won a bowl in Gene Chizik's first year, but the Tigers need to shore up their 'D' and find a QB. No Sparty party-

Now that Jimmie Johnson has checked Bristol off his to-do list, history becomes his most daunting challenge. Pearson, Glotzbach still hospitalized after wreck. Tony Stewart finished second and Kurt Bush third.

Championship with his first victory since 2007. Davies wins Trophee Hassan II by 2 shots.

MMA & BOXING - UFC- Jones (10-1) decimated Vera (11-5) in a nationally televised bout on Sunday at the 1st Bank Center, stopping him at 3:19 of the first
round in a performance that was as brutal as it was jaw dropping. He tossed Vera around like he was a (not-so) heavy bag. He blistered him with crushing
elbows and pummeled him with powerful punches. It was so one-sided that it seemed that Jones was the wily veteran and Vera was the inexperienced 22-year-
old prospect and not vice versa. BOXING-Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko dominated "Fast Eddie" Chambers before finishing him off with five seconds left in the 12th round. It was the 48th knockout of the heavyweight's career.

SOCCER - MLS - MLS and union sign 5-year labor deal. Can defending champion Real Salt Lake handle being the hunted instead of the hunter? New coach Curt
Onalfo doesn't have the history of success to lead D.C. United back to
respectability. With a coach who hardly speaks English, and a forward who lost his
way, the Fire have certainly taken some creative risks in rebuilding the team for 2010, but early indications are that this franchise will find themselves
in the mix at the end of the year once again.

TENNIS - Ivan Ljubicic used 20 aces to beat Andy Roddick in two sets 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5) to win the BNP Paribas Open on Sunday, earning his first ATP Masters 1000 title. Women's final: Jankovic dominates Wozniacki.
