NFL - The Redskins have their man. According to reports, Mike Shanahan has agreed to a five-year deal to become Washington's next coach. He is the the franchise's seventh coach since '99. Rex Ryan's Jets earned a wild-card berth opposite the Bengals largely behind the league's top-ranked defense. With Ray Rice's help, Ravens coach John Harbaugh is making a rare second straight playoff trip. Los Angeles looks to lure Jaguars, Bills. Bears bringing back Smith, fire Turner. Texans' Cushing named Def. Rookie of the Year. Vikings' Harvin takes top offensive rookie honors.

MLB - The Big Finish-Randy Johnson called it quits in his own way Tuesday, and one of the game's great lefties leaves behind a tall imprint, after 22 seasons. Five-time Cy Young winner Randy Johnson won 303 games and struck out 4,875 during his Hall-of-Fame career.

HORSE RACING - British horse racing officials plan to experiment with a simpler way to list odds in a bid to encourage younger people to take an interest in the sport. Under the experiment, 100-30 will be 4.33 and 8-11 becomes 1.72, with the decimalized odds including the stake money—in other words, showing that a one-pound bet would return 4.33 pounds in the first example.
