NCAA FOOTBALL - Dan LeFevour's last game was a wild one as Central Michigan topped Troy 44-41 in 2 OT.Nick Saban turned Michigan State around and won a title at LSU. With a win over Texas he would join the game's immortals. Colt McCoy is out to cap his marvelous career with a national title. Mark Ingram will try to join Matt Leinart as the only Heisman winners to go on to win the BCS Championship Game. Bama's tough D will play a leading role, but UT QB Colt McCoy is the central figure in the title drama

NBA - Arenas suspended indefinitely by NBA. Celtics outlast Heat despite Wade's 44. Suns rally by Rockets in see-saw affair. Spurs send Pistons to 11th loss in row. Cavs easily beat Arenas-less Wizards. Raptors nearly blow lead, beat Magic. Minus Williams, Jazz beat Grizzlies. Clippers take down Lakers-For one night, at least, Baron Davis and the Clippers won L.A. bragging rights by beating the Lakers. Zach Randolph, who's averaging 20.4 points and 11.5 rebounds, has helped the Grizzlies climb above .500.

No. 16 Vols win despite 4 key absences. Scheyer has 31 in homecoming, Duke rolls. Marquette beats No. 12 Hoyas on late FTs. No. 7 Syracuse gets past Memphis 74-57. USC's difficult week continues with loss.

NHL - Surging Sabres score 3 in first 2:11Heatley's OT goal lifts red-hot Sharks. Wild end 4-game skid, halt Flames' run. Briere scores 2 as Flyers beat Leafs 6-2. Okposo's late goal lifts Isles over Avs. Goalie Evgeni Nabokov and the Sharks denied T.J. Oshie and the Blues, giving interim coach Davis Payne his first win.

GOLF - Phil Mickelson was ready to become golf's top player in the 1990s – until You-Know-Who came along. Is this his time? As the PGA Tour campaign begins Thursday in Hawaii, golf fans are anxiously anticipating the world's best players taking to the links.

NASCAR - Front Row Motorsport has joined Ford Racing and will run two full-time Sprint Cup teams next season with Travis Kvapil and Kevin Conway. Kvapil will drive the No. 34 car sponsored by Long John Silver's. Conway, a rookie, will drive the No. 37 car that ran part-time last season with sponsorship to be named later.

MMA & BOXING - Manny Pacquiao's promoters said his prospective bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. was dead after a mediation session failed to resolve the fighters' differences over drug testing.

HORSE RACING - Kettle River wins feature at Santa Anita. Eclipse finalists: 2 females vie for Horse of Year.Female stars Rachel Alexandra (left) and Zenyatta were the only candidates to receive votes for Horse of the Year. The winner will be announced Jan. 18.
