Scores and Sports Info for 04/02/2010

NCAA HOOP'S - MARCH MADNESS - FINAL FOUR - Duke's Jon Scheyer is breathing easier at the Final Four. Counterpart Joe Mazzulla of WVU expects to change that. It’s certainly not the Final Four that most bracket gurus expected, but it should be an interesting ride in Indianapolis. Butler, Michigan State, West Virginia and Duke descend upon the Hoosier State for Saturday’s national semifinal games – the Bulldogs meeting the Spartans at 6:07 ET, the Mountaineers facing the Blue Devils at 8:47.
NIT FINAL - Dayton players danced at midcourt and then lingered on ladders as they cut down the nets at Madison Square Garden. Marcus Johnson scored 20 points and Dayton denied last year’s national champs another title, topping the Tar Heels 79-68 Thursday night to win the NIT.

NBA - Carmelo Anthony and the reeling Nuggets beat the Blazers for a needed win – even while they lost yet another player to injury. Howard leads Magic to victory in Dallas. Hawks hand Lakers second straight loss.

NHL - The host Kings raced out to a five-goal lead and routed the Canucks in a potential first-round playoff preview. Isles end 15-game skid vs. Flyers. Panthers' Clemmensen beats Bruins. Red Wings win seventh straight. Sens clinch playoff spot with win. Brown has 4 points as Kings rip Canucks. Bradley helps Capitals halt slide. Preds within point of playoff berth. Leafs get fluke goal, top Sabres.

MLB - Jered Weaver must fill the No. 1 starter vacuum left by John Lackey for the Angels to continue to dominate the AL West. With new ace Roy Halladay, Philly could be on the verge of a dynasty. Rejoice, rejoice, the baseball season is almost here!

GOLF - Suzann Pettersen fired a 67 to seize a one-stroke lead after the opening round of the LPGA's first major in Palm Springs. Shell Houston Open- Phil Mickelson hasn't had the year he – and we – expected. The good news? He's two back after Day 1. Singh withdraws from Houston Open.

SOCCER - MLS - The Dynamo beat defending MLS champ Real Salt Lake 2-1. Edson Buddle scored both goals as the Galaxy blanked
Chivas 2-0 for their best season start in eight years.

TENNIS - True grit-Kim Clijsters outlasted Justine Henin 6-2, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6) in a seesaw semifinal at the Sony Ericsson
Open. Clijsters faces Venus Williams in Saturday's final. Venus reaches Miami final by beating Bartoli.
